I did it!

120 050 words in 30 days!

Next year, I’m going back to 50 000. This was insane! I couldn’t have done it without my amazing team: rainien, whose keen eye and experience have made this fic so much better; Krystle Lynne, whose sweetness and encouragement (and beta skills!) never went amiss; and keppiehed, who was always available when I needed her, who never let me give up, beat myself up, or throw up on my own horrible prose. Additional thanks to scarybearhair who is trekking her way through the mire of this fic as we speak, and whose comments will help the fic immeasurably.

The fic is far from finished. I’m estimating another 50 000 words or so. I was hoping to post in January, but we’ll have to see. I am still looking for one more beta to give this the final okay, so if anyone is interested, contact me and we’ll talk.

Below the cut is an excerpt from the middle of the first chapter. Please read it and let me know what you think! It might not make a lot of sense out of context, but the background is simple: their world is just like ours except that for four years (from age 16 to 20) teenagers are basically traded for their education. They are taught professional jobs just as one might be in university in return for their complete submission. Ellis is the main character, a slave who is trying to find a new master before his time runs out. Please have a read!

I need some serious encouragement, flist! I am in the final stretch for NaNoWriMo (only 3400 words left to write!) and at the same time I'm busting my ass for my final essay for... EVER! Due tomorrow, of course.

So who wants to cheer me on? They are both about 3500 words. I'd love to write 2000 words of each tonight. After that, never again! Seriously, I am so dead to life. I have so much work backed up that I might never see that beautiful sky again. My inbox has been snarling at me for days.

(And before someone helpful pipes up and says this is just another form of shameless attention-seeking behaviour procrastination, I have thought of that! But having people know what I'm doing always encourages me. :D )

ETA: Well, it's just before 11:00pm and I've finished my essay! Essays always take so freaking long. I didn't get as much done for Nano. I'll have to finish it tomorrow. National Novel Writing Month

Week Three

Today I have admitted three things.

1. I am a huge pervert. Huge. I am getting off so hard on this story. I cannot wait to post it. I hope it gets read (ah, author insecurities).
2. Word counts are automatic failure. I cannot keep to them even when I grossly overestimate. My new goal is 150 000 words, but I am thinking more like 180 000.
3. I have the best team anyone could ask for. Truly. I could not have done it without my betas rainien and Krystle Lynne. Without them, I'd be floating along in a world of wrong words, typos, and WTF are you talking about. And then there's keppiehed, who I am pretty sure is actually me. I won't say it, you know who you are to me. Also, scarybearhair, who is new to the fic and demands so sweetly that I add more to the story--how can I resist? :D

I've now hit 100 081 words. That’s seventeen chapters!

Obviously I'm not going to finish this fic in a month, but I won't sacrifice the story just to say I finished it in a month.

I am also looking for someone to give this a final beta before it goes up in January. I'd like someone with a good handle on SPaG, but also someone who has an eye for word choice and sentence structure. In other words, the perfect beta. I'm not playing in LJ land. All emails that are not imperative will be backburnered (I am going to empty my inbox right now, and that's it). I am not even responding to reviews. I know, I'm a bad person.

The costume, however, is a Portkey straight to Lucius Malfoy, who makes delicious use of poor Harry. This fic starts up after Harry returns to Hogwarts—still in costume, of course.

Okay, I know there's no chance in hell anything will come of this, but I desperately need a beta for a 57 000 word (yes, you read that right) Hermione/Snape fic...

One beta is missing (kazfeist , where are you? *is worried*) and the severusbigbang appointed beta wasn't able to get to it. I've begged for an extension and I'm hoping to hear back in the positive.

The fic revolves around Hermione being locked in a cell in Snape's basement for the duration of the Horcrux hunt. I pretty much rape canon in favour of my own plot, but it's not so bad. There's some dub-con due to the circumstances (prisoner/captor Stockholm Syndrome stuff), and a simulated rape scene.

My regular betas are all tied up with my NaNo fic, so I can't ask them.

Is there anyone willing to take this on? I'll reward you with... well, internet sexual favours, I suppose. Anything.
